South Dakota Technology Business Center

The South Dakota Technology Business Center is a 38,000 square foot business accelerator dedicated to providing a supportive environment for new and early-stage technology-based businesses.

Designed around the needs of start up companies, the SDTBC leases office and lab space and offers the technology and professional infrastructure vital to entrepreneurs in achieving their goals. Successful companies are expected to “graduate” from the SDTBC in approximately three years.

The South Dakota Technology Business Center is a 501 (c) 4 not-for-profit corporation developed as the first component of the Technology Program of Forward Sioux Falls, a joint venture between the Sioux Falls Development Foundation and the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce. Started in 1999 with the active participation of more than 200 community, education and business leaders as task force members and study participants, the FSF Technology Program crafted a strategy to establish the Southeast Technical Institute/USDSU area as a nexus for education, research and business development.

The SDTBC is a direct result of the multiple public and private organizations that partnered to fund construction of the Technology Business Center, reflecting the broad-based support for this exciting economic development initiative.

The mission of SDTBC is "to diversify and expand the regional economy by providing 'best practices' incubator services and networking opportunities to qualified new and early-stage technology-based companies."

THE FUTURE
Planning is now underway for the development of a comprehensive “Knowledge Community”. The Community would include the South Dakota Technology Business Center and the adjacent educational campus, bringing together education, research and business development.

Key components would include a Technology/Research Park, a multi-tenant building for Technology Business Center graduates, and a Center for Graduate Education and Applied Research.
