Sixth most pro-business state in America - A recent study by Pollina Corporate Real Estate of Chicago ranks South Dakota as the sixth most pro-business state in the nation. The Pollina study highlighted our low cost of doing business, along with the absence of income or inventory taxes, low sales tax, low real property taxes and solid business incentives.

"The top ten states understand what it takes to keep jobs and remain competitive in today's economy," Pollina said.

Inc. chooses Sioux Falls fifth best small metro area - Citing our skilled workforce, emerging information and biological sciences industries, and quality of life that is attracting high-demand professionals to Sioux Falls, Inc. named the community one of the 25 best metro areas in America and fifth on the Small Metro Areas (job bases up to 150,000) list.

"Indeed, so strong is the business revival in Sioux Falls that population and employment rates are growing faster than the national average," the article stated. "In the past, such areas exported their young talent; now they are keeping more and bringing some back."

Omaha World Herald says Sioux Falls least expensive for corporate headquarters - Corporate officers looking to save money on their national headquarters should look to Sioux Falls, according to a recent story in the Omaha World Herald. The story, based on a study by The Boyd Company of Princeton, New Jersey, compares the costs for a corporate headquarters in several cities around the US. Sioux Falls came in as the best spot in America for the facility, with an annual cost of $24 million. Other regional cities were substantially higher, with Omaha at $25.7 million, Des Moines at $26.4 million annually, and Kansas City costing a whopping $27.3 million.

"Corporate decision-makers are seeing advantages in a centrally located headquarters facility," said John Boyd, company president. "Cost savings in travel and other factors can be significant in today's economy."

South Dakota tax burden lowest nationally - The Tax Foundation has named South Dakota the state with the lowest per capita tax burden in the nation. When taxes are compared state-to-state by per $1,000 income, South Dakota still shows its low-tax status - 3rd lowest in America, according to reports in Expansion Management magazine and the Microsoft Network news website.
