Clemensen pitches into workforce development strategies

Workforce development is at the top of the priority list for regional business and governmental leaders. One person who is especially serious about growing our talent pool is Lon Clemensen, Vice President of Workforce Development at the Sioux Falls Development Foundation. On the job since mid-September, Clemensen has begun the process of crafting new workforce initiatives for our region in a variety of ways.

Development Foundation receives federal grant for Foundation Park

The US Economic Development Administration (EDA) has awarded a $1,694,575 grant to the Sioux Falls Development Foundation to fund construction of critical rail infrastructure and related projects in Foundation Park, an 820-acre site under development in northwest Sioux Falls. EDA grants are awarded through a competitive process based upon the merit of the project under consideration and its economic impact.

SFDF annual meeting slated for November 17

The Sioux Falls Development Foundation will hold its Annual Meeting at the Holiday Inn City Centre Thursday, November 17, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., with a brief business meeting beginning at 5:15 p.m. The event will include the distribution of this year’s annual report of developments throughout our area.

Chairman's Report: Manufacturers are a key piece of our region's growth

Recently, our state set aside a week to honor South Dakota manufacturers. All across the state, large and small companies, manufacturing an unbelievable variety of products for local, regional and international use, help propel our economy forward. The Sioux Falls Development Foundation has helped to bring many of those manufacturing firms to South Dakota, and we are working to attract other productive companies to our area.
