Marmen to launch its first plant in the United States


Marmen, a world leader in high-precision machining, fabrication and mechanical assembly, is proud to announce the opening of its first plant in the United States, Marmen Energy, located in Brandon, South Dakota. The new plant is fully dedicated to the fabrication of wind towers. Since 2002, Marmen has successfully been serving the wind power industry in the United States.

Tech schools provide focused solutions to create tech-savvy employees

Technology has changed the face of the workforce dramatically, and because of that, employers are scrambling to find highly trained, proficient employees to fill positions that continue to evolve on a daily basis. That demand isn’t just a South Dakota need. According to global news source Reuters, the United States and other large economies cannot find enough skilled workers, engineers and other in-demand employees.

Peppermint Energy graduates from SDTBC

Peppermint Energy moved into the South Dakota Technology Business Center in 2012 with high hopes and uncertain expectations. The company graduated from the SDTBC in April, after a productive one-year stay, and has moved into an office in southern Sioux Falls. The startup developed portable utility boxes that it considers to have life-changing potential for people around the world, especially those outside established power grids in underdeveloped countries. The personal-sized energy sources also can be used in advanced countries for recreational purposes, such as outdoor excursions.

Chairman's Report: Graduates are a vital resource for our economic future

This year, over 2,700 high school seniors in the Sioux Falls MSA graduated from area high schools.  This includes 1,817 young people from Sioux Falls high schools and another 907 from the high schools in our metro area. This represents approximately 30% of the students graduating from South Dakota high schools.  Additionally, 5,600 graduates received their degree from the post-secondary schools within an hour’s drive.
